Newsletter Spring Term - 29 March 2018

Yet again, we are at the end of another term. It has been a very busy term with lots of exciting things happening. Foundation Stage 2 and Key Stage 1 have had lots of visitors into school, learning about people who help us in the community and what their job is. This culminated in the children having a dressing up day as people they would like to be when they get older. The Homework Project was very successful again and I would like to thank you for your continued support that you give your children at home. Year 3 and Year 4 had a very interesting visit to The Collection Museum at Lincoln linked to their Egyptian theme.

Term Dates

The last day of term for the Easter break is Thursday 29 March. The school re-opens on Tuesday 17 April. The school closes for the May half term on Friday 25 May and re-opens on Monday 4 June.

Sports Relief

The children really enjoyed the hockey tournament to raise awareness of Sport Relief. The amount we raised was £49. Thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause.

Our themes for the Summer term are:

Foundation Stage 2:

Summer 1 – Food

Summer 2 – Animals

Year 3/4 – A Whole New World

Year 5/6 – The Home Front

Key Stage 1:

Summer 1 – Food Glorious Food

Summer 2 – All creatures great and small

Aspens, our food providers, have been excellent this term, with the quality of food, the events they have organised and the support they have given the school. They have given every child in the school an Easter lolly as a thank you for your support.

My Ed App

The My Ed App will be going live on Tuesday 17 April. Here is a reminder of how you can sign up to the App. This will enable you to receive text messages from us.

Please note, the app is free. It is easy to set up and use. The following are the basic instructions to help you:

  • Go to your app store on your phone.
  • Search for 'My Ed' and then download the app.
  • You will be asked to select a school, where you put Theddlethorpe Academy.
  • You will also be asked to provide your mobile number and an email address - please note, to give you proper access, your mobile phone number must be the number that we hold on our computer system. If it isn't, it will not work. If this is the case, please let us know your new number and we will update our system which will mean you can access the app (see reply slip).
  • Once you have entered these details, you will be sent an activation code to your phone - which you will then have to enter into the app - this is for your own security.
  • Please note, you will be able to access most of the app straight away. However, it will take 24 hours for you to access unique details, for example, attendance.
  • Once you are in, you will be able to explore the various tabs - as mentioned, we will add to these throughout the year, but we wanted to get the system up and running.

Reading Challenge

Well done to all children who have achieved the Reading Challenge. This has been a very good half term with only 9 children not achieving it. Again, could I thank parents for your support with this as Reading is a very crucial part of your child's education.

Parents Evening

Parents Evening was a huge success and hopefully you all enjoyed the taster food that was provided by Aspens.

This newsletter and diary dates can all be found on our website.

Yours faithfully
