Children Shed Light On Diwali Festival

Reception children used their creative skills to create salt dough Diva Lamps as part of their Diwali celebrations.

Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated mainly by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs. The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika, from mid-October to mid-November each year.

Susan Cook, Theddlethorpe Academy Principal, said: “Making the lamps allowed the young children the freedom to be creative and express themselves by making a piece of art.“
