Contingency Planning For Coronavirus

Ref: SC/PT

Dear parent/carer

Re: Contingency Planning for Coronavirus

As part of our contingency planning, we have to prepare for every eventuality, which might include having to close the Academy for a period of time. As the situation is changing at a rapid rate on a daily basis, we are also aware that we may have to close the Academy at very short notice. This could be a directive from the national government or could be because of a localised issue. Therefore, all staff are currently involved in ensuring we can support the children with their education at home, in the event that we do have to close the Academy.

  • All teachers are preparing packs for every child to take home.
  • These packs will include Maths and English work as well as tasks connected to your child's current theme topic. Where possible, this will be project-based.
  • Where relevant, we will include references and signposts to any relevant websites/resources that can be accessed by the children to support their work.
  • Teachers will provide an overview sheet, with clear instructions to support parents.
  • We are also in the process of establishing a tab on our website to include some of this information.
  • For Year 2 and Year 6 pupils, we will ensure that the children have work to support their preparation for SATs.

While we can never replicate the education children receive in the classroom, we want to ensure that we can do everything we can to support their learning, whilst keeping them busy at home.

All staff have access to our computer system from home, and will be working from home preparing resources and continuing to develop the many changes we have already made to the wider curriculum. In addition, if you have any questions can I please ask you to email: We will endeavour to ensure that you receive a response as soon as possible.

If we do need to enforce this situation, we will keep our website updated regularly, including informing you when the Academy will be re-opening. We will also ensure that this message is sent by text.

Can I thank you in advance for your support and please ask you to contact me if you have any questions. Please be assured that any decision taken will be in line with government guidelines and be taken in the best interests of all children and staff.

Yours faithfully

Mrs S Cook
