FS2 children make ginger bread men as part of their topic ‘Once Upon A Time.’
Once upon a time FS2 children at Theddlethorpe Academy learnt all about fairytales!
With the focus on the tale of The Gingerbread Man, the children learnt how to sequence the story and recognise the characters. They made gingerbread playdough with Miss Gill and enjoyed using the playdough and cutters to make a gingerbread man.
In their role play area, they have a gingerbread cottage where the children made gingerbread, put it in the oven and served it to their friends.
The Gingerbread Man left the children a message telling them that he didn’t want to get eaten by the sly fox so could they help him across the river? The children decided to make some boats for The Gingerbread Man to get across the river. They tested them in the water tray to see if they floated or sank.
This gingerbread man got his own boat.
Later, the Reception children designed their own foxes to eat up the gingerbread man. They used their foxes to act out the end of the story and enjoyed pretending to be the fox.
