Reception children make jam sandwiches to learn how to sequence steps in Maths.
Making Jam sandwiches might not be the first activity we think of when learning Maths, but the different steps involved allowed Reception children to develop their sequencing skills and their vocabulary.
Pupils sequenced the steps in making the sandwich in the correct order, as well as counting how many steps it took. They were also encouraged to use sequencing words such as "first", "next", "then", and "finally".
Their reward - a lovely jam sandwich to finish with!
