Pupils from Theddlethorpe Academy welcomed to St James’ Church

Children of Theddlethorpe Academy in Mablethorpe visited St James’ Church in Louth.

Their KS1 Religious Education lessons have been centered around learning about the various symbols which are used in the Christian church. The children embarked on an exciting adventure to discover the signs and symbols such as the font, pews and stained-glass windows.

St James’ is the historic parish and civic church of Louth. Is it a popular places for visitors with a gift shop, coffee shop and volunteer guides to help you explore the history of the church. The church has the third tallest spire in the United Kingdom, but the tower is currently unavailable to climb due to the breeding season of peregrine falcons. They have been nesting on the walkway of the tower each year since 2015.

Whilst at the church, they took the time to discuss the Christian religion and listened to a story from the Bible. The children were guided by Mr John Loft. He said: “It was wonderful to see children in the church. The church cherishes its young members.”

The children made some observations regarding the church: “It’s amazing. It’s old. It’s tall and beautiful.” The staff and pupils of Theddlethorpe Academy would like to thank John and the other members, who made them feel so welcome.
